Listed below are some common dangerous or toxic items for pets that can be found in your home.

Food

  Coffee

  Grapes and Raisins

Chocolate ( including cocoa powder, baker's chocolate, and white chocolate)

  Onions

  Yeast Dough

   Tea

   Macadamia Nuts

   Alcohol

   Fatty Foods

   Salt

   Avocado

   Garlic

Chewing Gum (especially the sugarless variety) or candy

Table scraps are not healthy for your pets either. Even if they "never had a problem before" or "have eaten table scraps all their life" - it only takes one wrong ingredient to cause a serious problem. Food with bones in it can cause injury to the mouth, throat, stomach or intestinal tract. These also don't digest well and may cause a blockage in your pet that is dangerous and costly to fix. Nutritionally, "people" food is not healthy for your pet, unless it is a diet recommended by your veterinarian. These diets usually have additional vitamins added, because animals will not get what they need from "people" food alone.

Outdoor Dangers

Common chemincals used outside the home are also dangerous to your pets.

   Anti-freeze

   Insecticides

   Gasoline

   Coolants

   Plant/Lawn Fertilizers
